An evening of knitting for charity at Montoya Fiber Studio, Thursday, June 16, 5 to 7:30

Come by the store and knit a chemo cap for Chicagoland Head Huggers, a non-profit group which provides caps to cancer patients through hospitals, doctors offices, and many other support groups.  We got together one evening last month and had such a good evening, I thought we should get together again.  And if you don't knit, sign up for a free class on Tuesday, June 14, and I'll get you started on a cap if you like.  Call the store for details, 847-869-1089.

Central Street Sidewalk Sale, July 24 through 26

The Central Street Merchants Association is happy to announce the Annual Sidewalk Sale July 24 through July 26th.  Over 40 merchants are participating this year in what has become Central Street’s way of saying “Thank You” to its loyal customers and community. The Central Street Business  Association has worked all year to coordinate efforts between businesses on Central Street and the community in an effort to celebrate the distinctiveness and  continued excellence of all that is available in this shopping district. The Central St. Business district starts just east of Green Bay Road and continues west almost to Crawford Avenue.  

This year, things will be a little different for our sidewalk sale.  We will participate in a city-wide sale, which will include downtown Evanston and the other smaller shopping districts.  In these trying economic times, we will be pooling our resources to better promote our sale.  Also, we are sorry to announce we will not be holding our annual Family Fest and Budding Artist Craft Show in the park.  As merchants, the Family Fest was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the neighborhood and offer a special day of entertainment.  But the monetary and organizing aspects put a strain on our limited resources, which this year we need to devote to our businesses.  We hope to be able to offer a Family Fest in the future.

Sidewalk sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
