Hewn is an independently owned, women owned bakery specializing in naturally fermented breads, pastries, and sandwiches. Our main bakehouse is located in Evanston, with outposts in Winnetka and Libertyville. We use locally sourced, organic grains and traditional techniques, and we are committed to using sustainably grown wheat from local farmers, ensuring both nutritious and delicious baked goods.
Food & Wine magazine featured Hewn as one of the Best Bakeries in America and in the article The Best Bread in Every State. Hewn was listed among the Best Bread Bakeries at the Food Network, and as one of the Best Bakeries in Chicago by Thrillist.
